Living a balanced Christian life can feel overwhelming; juggling family, finances, prayer, Bible study, and church involvement. However, the Bible offers clear guidance on maintaining biblical balance. To discover how, join us on a journey to Living on Target.

2 Corinthians 5:9-10 ESV

9 So whether we are at home or away, we make it our aim to please him. 10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may receive what is due for what he has done in the body, whether good or evil.

Q: If we'll one day stand before a Holy God to give an account, shouldn’t we know what we’ll be accountable for?

24 Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize. 25 Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last, but we do it to get a crown that will last forever. 26 Therefore I do not run like someone running aimlessly; I do not fight like a boxer beating the air. 27 No, I strike a blow to my body and make it my slave so that after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified for the prize.
1 Corinthians 9:24-27 NIV

Q: Don’t we need a clear goal to stay focused and run the race well?

A goal keeps us motivated, focused, and on track. Living on Target is a guided journey
through God’s Word, showing practical ways to live a life that pleases Him.

Living on Target is a 12-week discipleship journey with a small group that helps you begin a lifelong process of being and making disciples by aligning your life with four biblical foundations...

CHRIST
Living in love and service to Christ in our personal lives in Prayer, Word and Personal Worship. (Matthew 6:6) (Hebrews 4:12)
HOME
The first place our closeness to the Lord should be evident is in our home: in our singleness, our marriages, our parenting, and our finances. (Joshua 24:15)
CHURCH
Having shown faithfulness in the first 2 foundations (not perfection), we are now ready and equipped to serve the Church fruitfully. Together, we will explore the Bride of Christ, communion, corporate worship, and the importance of biblical community. (Ephesians 4:15-16)
WORLD
Now we step into the Great Commission (Matthew 28:16–20). Jesus calls us to go and make disciples, trusting His design that disciples make disciples who make disciples (2 Timothy 2:2). Living in love and service to the world means loving the lost and caring deeply for the persecuted Church.

"Living on Target was life changing for me personally as well as my family. It brought my relationship with God back to its rightful place. It also set my family in biblical order and gave my husband and I a core group of friends that are believers that we still meet with weekly."

- Brittony T.

“Living on Target was life changing for my wife and I  personally as well as my family. When we went through and applied LOT of to our lives it showed us how to put our lives in biblical order as well as show me what it means and what it takes to be the spiritual leader of the home. It was life changing for our marriage and home. Recommend L.O.T. to everyone!”

- Cody T.

"Living on Target was a life changing experience for me. It taught me that being intentional with my personal relationship with God first over everything else was the core. Once you have that relationship deep rooted it helps prepare you to take the Gospel into all other parts and people in your life. To experience Living on Target with my spouse was also incredibly fulfilling. Just growing in our faith together helped us build our marriage on a strong foundation."

- Adina J.

"Target has been deeply transformative in my life by taking God’s Word and making it simple to understand, practical to apply, and real in everyday living. Beyond the study itself, the relationships built through shared testimonies and learning Scripture together have been incredibly powerful and faith-strengthening. Simply put, Target has been instrumental in shaping our spiritual growth and has had a lasting impact on our lives and the lives of many group members we’ve been blessed to lead."

-Matthew H.

“Living on Target helped me refocus and put my priorities back in order, which deepened my personal relationship with the Lord and brought peace and growth into my home.”

-Tabitha H.

FAQ

Do men and women attend class together?
Short answer: no, and here’s why. While a co-ed group can be fruitful, we’ve found over the years that separating men and women creates a safer environment for sharing. As trust grows over time, our goal is to foster a space where people can freely share real-life victories and challenges. That kind of environment is best cultivated in an all-men’s or all-women’s group.
Will my spouse and I be at different locations?
Most likely no. We usually choose one location that offers both men’s and women’s groups so couples can travel together, attend their groups, and head home together. When registering, be sure to check the date, time, and location so you can attend simultaneously.
I heard that I HAVE to give my testimony/story? Is that true?
Do you have to? No. Do we encourage it? Yes.
First, take a deep breath and relax 🙂 We would never pressure you to do anything. You will never be forced to share or made to feel guilty for not sharing. However, we do encourage you to share a piece of your story, your journey to Christ. Your testimony is powerful, and when people share their stories, it creates a meaningful experience and reminds us that we are not alone in our journey. And don’t worry, if you choose not to share, that’s completely okay. If you do want to share, we have tools to help you write your story.
Do you provide childcare?
It depends on the group. Some groups will have childcare available, and some will not. Please read the group description carefully when viewing the event to see if childcare is offered.
Is L.O.T only for "New Christians"?
No. No. And no.
Living on Target is designed for all Christians, at every season of life and every level of biblical knowledge. It isn’t about how much you know; it’s about how you live. Life is busy and full of ups and downs, and Living on Target helps us slow down and intentionally reflect. Are we currently living a life that is pleasing to the Lord? That kind of self-reflection is a lifelong process, and every healthy Christian should regularly practice it.
Will Living on Target change my life?
Only if you come with a submissive heart and a desire to live a life that pleases Him. In these groups, you will get out of it what you put into it. We have seen people complete this study and walk away unchanged—and we have seen many lives transformed for the glory of God. The difference is the heart’s desire. Do you truly want to draw closer to the Lord? Jeremiah 29:13 says, “You will seek Me and find Me when you seek Me with all your heart.” So lean in. Seek Him fully. And allow Him to transform your heart and mind.
Do I have to attend EVERY week? 12-weeks is a long time.
We understand that a 12-week discipleship group is a commitment, and we also understand that life happens. We are not about legalism. Vacations come up, kids get sick, and unexpected things occur. So the short answer is no. you are not required to attend every single week. However, we do strongly encourage you to sign up with the intention of attending all 12 weeks if possible. If you already have a planned vacation, don’t let that stop you from joining, it’s completely okay. That said, commitment matters. It matters for your personal growth and for the growth of the group. Your story, life experience, and insight are valuable, and your presence truly matters.
Is this only for those who want to become a leader in the church?
Short answer: no.
Living on Target is designed for everyone, and we desire every person to experience a 12-week Living on Target group. While we do require anyone who desires a leadership role in our church to first complete Living on Target, not everyone who attends is seeking to become a front-line leader. Many people participate simply to grow deeper in their walk with Christ and apply biblical truth to everyday life.
If I DO desire to become a leader, why does NewLife Church require all leadership to go through L.O.T?
Because Scripture calls us to lovingly and wisely examine those who desire leadership.

The Bible teaches that leadership in the Church should never be rushed or assumed. “They must first be tested and then, if there is nothing against them, let them serve” (1 Timothy 3:10). Living on Target gives us a biblical, relational way to walk with someone over time, not to judge them, but to know them.

Scripture also warns us not to move too quickly when affirming leaders: “Do not be hasty in the laying on of hands” (1 Timothy 5:22). Living on Target allows space for character, faithfulness, teachability, and spiritual health to be observed naturally in real life, not just in an interview.

Finally, Hebrews 13:17 reminds us that church leaders carry responsibility before God for those they shepherd. Because of that responsibility, we take leadership seriously and prayerfully. Living on Target helps ensure alignment in doctrine, values, and lifestyle while also protecting both the individual and the church.

This process is not about perfection, it’s about faithfulness, humility, and a desire to grow. Living on Target allows us to walk together in a way that is loving, biblical, and life-giving for everyone involved.
What should I expect when attending a L.O.T group?
The goal of these groups is to allow the Lord to speak to you first. Below is the rhythm of our 12-week discipleship groups.

You will receive a schedule that clearly outlines what is to be completed before each session. Each week, participants are asked to:

A. Read the assigned pages in the Living on Target book first.
B. Complete the 7-day Bible study in the participant guide.
C. Come prepared to discuss, ask questions, encourage one another, and pray together.

This rhythm helps establish a daily time in God’s Word as we walk through a guided journey of Scripture together.
