What We Believe

“All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness.”
—2 Timothy 3:16

Core Beliefs

The following are the core beliefs of NewLife Church | Locust, NC based on the foundational truths taught in the Bible. All of our teaching and ministry is rooted in and flows out of these biblical doctrines.

God

There is only one God who is the Creator and Ruler of the universe. He eternally exists in three co-equal persons: the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

Genesis 1:1; Deuteronomy 6:4; Jeremiah 10:10; John 4:24;
1 Corinthians 8:6; Mark 1:9-11

JESUS

Jesus is the Son of God, co-equal with the Father, born of a virgin, and the only way to salvation. He came from Heaven, lived a sinless life, and gave Himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sin of all men by dying on the cross. After three days, He rose from the dead. He ascended into Heaven and will return again to rule and reign as the King of kings and Lord of lords.

Psalm 2:7-9; Isaiah 7:14; Matthew 1:18-23; Luke 1:35; John 14:6; Acts 1:11; 1 Timothy 2:5-6; Revelation 19:16

HOLY SPIRIT

The Holy Spirit is God, equal with the Father and the Son, who indwells every believer to empower, equip, and enable them to live a godly life.

Genesis 1:2; Psalm 51:11; Matthew 3:16; Acts 5:3-4; Romans 8:26-27

THE BIBLE

The Bible is the inspired, infallible, and authoritative Word of God. It was written by humans under the guidance of the Holy Spirit and is the source of truth for Christian belief and living.

Psalm 119:105; Psalm 119:160; John 17:17; Hebrews 4:12; 2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:21

SALVATION

Salvation is God’s gift of forgiveness and reconciliation to all who accept it by faith in Jesus. Salvation is not attained through self-improvement or good deeds. Eternal life begins the moment you receive Jesus into your life by faith.

Acts 2:21; Acts 16:30-31; Romans 1:16-18; Romans 3:24;
Hebrews 5:8-9

The Church

The Church was established by Jesus and is God's vessel to expand His kingdom on Earth. The Church is not a building but a body of people who share a common bond through faith in Jesus.

Matthew 16:15-16; Acts 2:41-47; Ephesians 1:22-23;
Ephesians 4:11-16

ETERNITY

Humanity was created to live forever. We believe that all who receive Jesus by faith will spend eternity with God and those who reject Jesus will spend eternity separated from God. Separation from God is endured in Hell. Eternity with God is enjoyed in Heaven.

Matthew 22:1-14; Matthew 25:31-46; John 3:1-18,35-36; 1 John 5:11-12; Revelation 20:11-15

ETERNAL SECURITY

Because God gives man eternal life through Jesus Christ, the believer is secure in that salvation for eternity. Salvation is maintained by the grace and power of God, not by the self-effort of the Christian. It is the grace and eternal power of God that provides this security.

John 10:29; 2 Timothy 1:12; Hebrews 7:25;
Hebrews 10:10-14; 1 Peter 1:3-5

HUMAN LIFE

Human life is a sacred gift from God and begins at the moment of conception. It is invaluable no matter the age, race, ethnicity, intellect, physical ability, or disability and is to be protected and preserved.

Genesis 1:27; Genesis 2:7; Genesis 4:10-11; Exodus 20:13; Psalm 127:3-4; Psalm 139:13-16; Matthew 19:18; Romans 13:9

MARRIAGE

Marriage was the first human institution created by God. It is designed by God to be experienced between one man and one woman in a covenant relationship for a lifetime. The marriage relationship is to be honored by all.

Genesis 1:26-28; Genesis 2:20-25; Genesis 4:1-2; Matthew 19:1-12; Leviticus 18:22; Romans 1:24-27;
1 Corinthians 6:9-11; 1 Corinthians 7:1-17
We believe the Bible is essential for knowing who God truly is and understanding His character. Through God’s Word, He reveals His nature, His will, and His redemptive plan for humanity. As we grow in the knowledge of Scripture, the Holy Spirit uses that truth to shape our hearts and transform our lives, making us more like Christ. Without a faithful study of God’s Word, we risk forming a false or incomplete view of who God is—one shaped by culture, experience, or personal preference rather than by truth. Scripture anchors us in what is true, so our faith, beliefs, and lives align with God’s revealed will.
